On Friday morning, a fiery five-vehicle crash caused traffic problems on Interstate 295 in Wilmington, Delaware. Around 8:40 am, near the Interstate 495 split and the Delaware Psychiatric Center, a tractor-trailer and four other vehicles engaged in a crash. One car involved in the fiery five-vehicle crash overturned and caught on fire. Four victims were taken to the hospital, and two of those victims required advanced life support for their personal injuries. The crash is under investigation.
During the early morning rush hour, it is common for accidents to occur due to the congestion, and motorists speeding to their destination. When a tractor-trailer becomes involved, the accident could escalate to catastrophic proportions, and cause personal injuries or even fatalities for any parties engaged in the crash. Many times, on a congested highway, where a large crash occurs, other drivers witnessing the scene could be drawn in to the accident and become part of a chain-reaction crash.
